I’m such a noob at wordpress. xD… oh well I’ll get better at it sometime soon. (I hope)
Anyways, thanks for the people who gave me some feedback/comments on the last post. I’ll try to be more patient :] <3
So this entry is basically about this story I made for U.S History class. We were learning about what it was like in 1950’s and we had to make a story or a regular essay about how people dressed, popular hang-outs, slangs used at those times Etc. Just almost about everything in 1950’s.
It was a fun assignment to do. Well for me it was and other students had fun also. I had some trouble writing it because I was scared that I would have too much fun writing the real plot of my story that I forgot to leave specific information that I had to include in my assignment.
Well here’s the story. I’m super sorry if I made any grammatical mistake and any kind. (I edited one of the names of the characters. And yes this is based on real people, real friends.)
1950’s Love Story
December 7th, 1958 has finally come and here I am turning 13 years old. I’ve been waiting for this day and now this means I’m finally a teenager and this also means that I would be able to hang-out with my other teenage friends. My name is Megan and since today is my birthday, my awesome best friends Pam, Kelley, and Cara and others are going to celebrate with me.
As I waited for them to come to my house to pick me up, I went to my room to pick out an outfit for me to go out. I opened my closet and I looked through the new clothes my mom just bought for me. There were a lot of pretty clothes I could choose. There were two types of swing skirts. One was the pink, swing skirt and there was also the beautiful red one with small white polka dots with the white “Peter Pan” collar, the two pencil type clothes, which one of them were colored in bold blue and the other light magenta, and there were two luncheon dresses, one was soft lavender colored and the other Daphne blue.
It took me a while to decide but I finally chose the pink swing skirt. Simple, but it still has a pretty, feminine look. I added in my new white heals with silk lace that would wrap around my ankle and tie it into a bow to complete my outfit.
When I was done adding make-up and all that stuff, I went to the TV room to watch some shows just to kill time before my friends pick me up. “I Love Lucy”, “Mickey Mouse Club”, and “The Lone Ranger” was on. All of these shows are pretty popular and after 5 to 10 minutes of watching, I heard a car engine rumble outside of the house. It was Pam and the others. I quickly grabbed my purse from the coffee table and head outside.
“Happy birthday, Megan!” they all cheered.
“Thanks guys!
I flashed a huge smile and gave them all warm hugs.
So where are we going?”
“We don’t know. Just hop in the car!” Cara smiled. It seems like her 17 year old boyfriend; Craig will be driving us today. I hopped in the car and I noticed it was a shiny teal colored 1956 T-Bird. It’s a pretty sweet car.
“There are a lot of places to hang-out. Like, we could eat at Wildwood Diner first, and then after we finish eating, we could hang out either at one of the largest drive-ins which are the All Weather Drive-in, Copiague, and New York.” Pam said.
“Let’s go to the New York drive-in! And maybe we could do some miniature golf too.” Kelley added. And so it’s decided. We drove to Wildwood Diner and we had a great time. Now we’re going to head to New York Drive-in. As we drove there, we heard our favorite songs on the car’s radio. Song after song, we sang together merrily. The songs that came up were “Don’t Be Cruel/Hound Dog” by Elvis Presley, “Love Letter in the Sand” by Pat Boone, and “It’s all in the Game” by Tommy Edwards. Even though “Don’t be Cruel/Hound Dog” is a two year old song and “Love Letters in the Sand” is a one year old song, they are still pretty popular and they have a history of being a #1 hit.
It only took us a while to get the New York Drive-in. It was really crowded when we got there and thank goodness we found a parking space. There were a lot of cars and people. The film that we’re going to watch is called “A Night to Remember” by Roy Ward Baker. There were other great films like, “Cat in a Hot Tin Roof” by Richard Brooks and “I Want to Live” by Robert Wise, but we’re watching “A night to Remember” anyways.
Just about 30 minutes before the movie starts, Kelley decided to get some snacks in the nearby restaurant where we parked out car in the drive-in.
“Hey, guys, I’m going to get some food. Anyone wanna join me?”
“We’ll join you!” both Pam and I responded.
“How about you, Cara?”
“No, it’s fine! You two go ahead!”
“You, Craig?” I asked.
“Nah, I’ll stay here with Cara.” He flashed a smile.
So then the three of us went to the restaurant. When we were finish, we headed back to the car and on the way there, Kelley stumbled across her boyfriend, Muhammad, which happens to be with his other friends. Kelley greeted her boyfriend and his friends. She gave Muhammad a soft peck on the lips.
“Hey, Muhammad! I knew you were going to hang-out at the drive-in but I didn’t know you were going to this one” Kelley said.
“Well, it’s a good thing we saw each other! Now I get to spend time with you too!” Muhammad gave Kelley a big warm hug.
“Oh! I’m sorry guys! Meet my boyfriend, Muhammad and this here is Frank and Alex.” Kelley pointed out. Both Pam and I smiled and shook hands with all of them they were about 16 to 17 years old and they all seemed very nice. Pam and Frank seem to like each other too. The boy who caught my eye was Alex. Love at first sight maybe?
After getting to know each others names, we continue to head back to the car and Muhammad and the others went with us. When we got there, Cara and Craig were doing back seat bingo. It wasn’t surprising at all. We decided to leave those two together so we went to Muhammad’s car instead. As we watched the film, we also had a good time getting to know more about each other. When the film was at intermission, Pam and Frank told us that they were going to take a short walk around the drive-in and Muhammad and Kelley decided to get some snacks leaving me and Alex the only ones in the car. For a moment there was an awkward silence between us until one of us break the ice. We started talking about each other and what were our hobbies, what films we like, and we got to the part where we talked about what do you like in a boy/girl.
I feel like I could just talk to him about anything. He’s the type of guy that I would love to be with and I hope he feels the same too with me. When the film started again, Muhammad, Kelley, Pam and Frank wasn’t back yet so we’re just going to take a walk since there’s no point in watching when everyone just left.
As we walked, we talked to each other and have a good time. After a while it started to get late and I wasn’t supposed to stay after 11:00 o’clock. I headed to the telephone booth to tell my parents I’ll be home a little late but people were doing telephone cramming. It looked ridiculous.
“Do you want me to drop you off home? I came here by my car.” Alex asked.
“Are you sure? Don’t you want to hang around with your friends?”
“It’s okay. After I drop you off I’ll go back home since almost everyone’s gone off somewhere.”
I thank him and we headed to where his car was parked. We drove out of the drive-in and headed for my house. When we finally got there, before I got out of the car he asks
“Will I see you again soon?” I nodded and I could feel my cheeks burned.
“Can I see you tomorrow?” I asked as my heart started to beat faster by the minute.
“Yes. So it’s decided then.” He smiled.
I got out of the car and we said our goodbyes to each other. I went inside the house and closed the door to my back, sighing happily. I went back to my room and changed into my pajamas and lay down on my bed, thinking about how tomorrow is going to be the greatest day of my life and how I get to spend it with Alex.
I woke up early the next day and quickly took a shower and picked out an outfit for today. Brushed my teeth, combed my hair, put on some make-up and everything. When I was done I heard the telephone ring. I picked it up and it was Pam on the phone.
“Hey, Pam! What’s up?”
“Nothing much! But where were you last night? When Frank and I got back you and Alex were gone.”
“Oh, I had to go home since it was getting late and Alex was kind enough to drop me back home” I smiled.
“That’s really nice of him!”
“Yep. So did anything happen between you and Frank?”
“Actually yes, we hooked up!” We talked about what happened last night and how it was all a blast. Pam told me that Frank is a really awesome guitarist and that he played a song for Pam on the guitar when she visited his house last night. I feel really happy for her and our conversation lasted until a heard a knock on my door and we said goodbye to each other.
I opened the door and it was Alex. We greeted each other with a hug and headed to the car. We ate lunch together at the Silver Diner and we went walking around a park nearby my house. Nothing too much happened but it was enough to make me happy. As long as I’m with Alex, everything’s fine.
As the day ended, Alex dropped me off at my house. He offered to walk me to the door. When we got to the door, our faces got closer to each other and eventually so did our lips. As we continue kissing, I thought,
So this is how it feels like when they say your heart leaps
After a few minutes our lips parted and we said our goodbyes in hugs. I watched him as he drove out of the drive way and waved as he left. I went inside the house feeling like I’m on cloud 9.
From then on Alex and I have been spending a lot of times together. We would go somewhere just the two of us. It didn’t matter where we went as long as we had each other. We went to see 3-D movies and we played with hula hoops on our second date. It was fun laughing at how funny he looks as he played his hula hoop. We would always have fun spending our times together…it was like we were in heaven.
Everything was so perfect until I heard the news from my parents that we’re moving. I couldn’t bear to think about it or even talk about it. Here I finally found someone I could spend the rest of my life with and now I have to part with him? This is cruelty.
I told everyone the news the next day I was told that I would be moving. There was nothing that could be done. When I told Alex I was moving I couldn’t help but broke out into tears.
“I don’t know when I’ll be able to move back here” I cried.
“Megan… everything’s going to be alright. Let’s just make the best of our time here together.” He pulled me in for a warm hug and wiped my tears away from my eyes and we spend that night together laying in each others arms.
There were only two more months before I move and I’m trying my best to make every moment with my best friends last. We grew so much closer ever than before and day by day we would make everything seem like nothing is going to ruin our friendship.
And so the day has finally come. I’ve got all my clothes packed and everything and my parents are waiting for me outside of the house with the car ready to head on to the airport. I slowly take my steps and took a deep breath before I went inside the car.
As we drove to the airport, flashbacks of the time me and everyone had and how much fun we had together ran through my mind. When we finally reached our destination, everyone was there to see me off but Alex was nowhere in sight. We said our goodbyes and threw big hugs to each other.
“I’m going to miss you all so terribly” I cried. We all got into a group hug and we took our last picture together. As it was time for me to go, I looked around to see if Alex was around. There was no sight of him, so I guess it really is over.
When I was about to enter the plane, I heard someone called out my name. I looked back to see who it was and there he was. I dropped my suit case and ran towards him and fell into his arms.
“I’m sorry I’m late!” He apologized as he held me tightly. We had our last few kisses and our last final hug. Just before our hands parted with each other, he whispered something in my ear.
“We’ll be together again, I promise”
One year later
“Megan, Hurry up we need to catch up with your father soon! He’s already waiting for us over there.” My mom hollered from down stairs.
“I’ll be right there!” I grabbed my coat and my bag and headed straight to downstairs where I met up with my mom.
“Make sure you don’t forget anything because once you leave it here, it’ll stay here and we won’t come back anymore.”
“I didn’t forget anything. Don’t worry” I smiled. We both headed to the car and put our bags into the trunk. When we reached our destination, we quickly showed our passports and went inside the airplane.
As the plane starts to take-off, I relaxed in my seat and so did my mom. We’re finally going back. When I heard the news from my father that we’re going to the place where Alex and everyone else were, I was overjoyed.
We can be together again just like one year ago
THE END! :]
I feel lazy so I’ll end this entry right now.
